Gift List Day 4: Something Useful with a Beer Logo

Anyone who knows me understands that I’m not a big fan of brewery logo-ed merchandise. It’s not that I have anything against the stuff, per se, just that I have a long-held aversion to providing free advertising for any company, period. I even cut the tags and logos off my jeans, for crying out loud. The only branded tee-shirt I own, which I happen to be wearing at this very moment, boasts the well-faded but still familiar letter-logo of the late and lamented New York music emporium, CBGBs.

So, when I received a promotional email from a website called beerables.net yesterday, I was not optimistic. In fact, I very nearly junked it unread, but something compelled me to click open the message and regard the contents therein, and I’m glad I did.

What a certain Ms. Faulk, the vice-president of Beerables was hawking is a set of beer glasses the scope of which I have rarely seen in a single package, and made available at a price that makes it an ideal gift for the beer enthusiast on your list. Eight glasses, eight distinct styles, eight different brewery brandings, four countries: Sound interesting yet?

The Global Glassware Collection is well-named, since not only does it span several nations and a couple of continents, but also features attractive glasses for a number of different classic, nationally-identified styles, such as a weissbier glass from Bavaria, a chalice and snifter from Belgium, and a lovely, faintly curved half-litre sleeve from Munich.

In total, you get the eight glasses, all packed up, for $39.99, plus shipping. Which makes this an affordable set that should delight anyone even remotely interested in beer.

Who to give it to: Anyone who regularly serves you beer out of mason jars.

Buy it at: Beerables.net.
