Set to commence in a mere couple of weeks, the second annual Beer Week is indeed a beast of noteworthy proportions, with an astounding 500+ events now scheduled for its ten day run. That’s over 50 events a day, folks, including a full five (!) beer fests, two cycling events and a pair of runs.
Are you impressed yet? You should be, because while a great many of these events, indeed perhaps the bulk of them, may be of the more mundane “meet-the-brewer/drink specials/happy hour” variety, there is also a significant number of dinners, special tastings, one-off sampling opportunities and assorted other most noteworthy happenings. Far to many to itemize here, in fact.
For my part, I’ll be hosting a “Fire & Ice” beer dinner featuring Scandinavian beers and Mexican and South American cuisine at Monk’s Cafe on Sunday, March 8, and throwing my Asics trainers into the 5k “Run and Drink with the Brewers” on the following Monday, where I’ll be matching speed with Avery Brewing’s Adam Avery. I’m hoping he’ll have a bottle of The Beast with him for refreshment around the 3.5k point.
Airfares are cheap, hotel rooms are still available and if you truly do enjoy good beer, there’s little in North America this year that can offer more quality drinking,er, tasting, than will Beer Week. Surf over to the official website to gaze longingly at the events list and then drop by gophila.com to make to hotel booking. See you there.
