Well, I made it through a whirlwind visit to Belgium, including a small brewery mini-fest hosted by Picobrouweij Alvinne and the legendary Zythos fest, and have landed in Philadelphia during the heart of Beer Week, which itself included going straight from airplane to hotel to Monk’s Cafe where I hosted a well-attended beer dinner.
Excuse me while I catch my breath.
There’s lots to tell, including a very positive report on the current state of Belgium beer and the many reasons everyone should be planning on visit to Brugge, but first let me fill you in on this “Massive, wonderful beast” that is Philly Beer Week.
How about close to 700 beer events occurring over a three day span!? (When I last reported on this, the listing was at a meager 500+.) How about more opportunities to meet the brewers of the beers you love to drink than you can shake a stick at?! How about a 5k run where instead of feeding you water, they refresh runners with beer?!
Which reminds me, I’m due to start that run in a little over an hour, so I’d best get myself in gear. Pray for me.
