Got Time? Want Hops? Want Beer?

If you’re down in the general vicinity of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, tomorrow (August 22) and want to help out a local brewer, score yourself a kilo of free wet hops and partake in some of the most interesting new brews in the Maritimes, amble on over to the Lazy Acres Hop Farm around 9:00 a.m. and help Greg Nash and the crew from the Hart & Thistle Brewpub harvest some hops.

Y’see, Greg and co. are more than a little concerned about that Hurricane you may have read about lately, the one by the name of Bill, and are anxious to get the hops in before he hits. So they are trying to organize a squad of 30 to 40 pickers to help get the Cascades harvested fast, so there is more time to relax and have a beer.

All the details are over here, so call tonight an early one and get over to help ‘em harvest tomorrow morning. Homebrewer or not, you’ll likely have a good time and a unique experience.

(BTW, I met up with Greg and H&T boss, Bruce Keith, for a most interesting and, frankly, illegal tasting at the Halifax airport en route to London earlier this month, about which I’ll tell you more in the days to come.)
