Yesterday (June 12) was the 30-year anniversary of the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I was reminded of this seeming impossibility by my friend (and occasional contributor to this site) Christine Sismondo on her Facebook page. She noted a special fondness for the fantastic bar scene featuring actress Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, one of the coolest female film characters ever.

In it, Marion faces off in a drinking competition against a very large man. Check out the video and relive a great moment in movie history.

I'm no expert so I'll let this one speak for itself. The title is: Galaxy's centre tastes of raspberries and smells of rum, say astronomers. While the article is pretty cool, more interesting to me is the Center of the Galaxy cocktail by Martin Cate, who was inspired by the news report. And yes, it features rum and raspberry syrup, among other things.

If I could choose, I'd wish the centre of the galaxy tasted like pizza.

So, I'm guessing we've all met a snobby bartender, either on-duty or off. And as much as I find all the new techniques in the spirits world to be really interesting, sometimes it can get to be a bit much.
